What can Acupuncture do for me?
You can visit your acupuncturist for all the same reasons you might go to your doctor, as well as for general wellbeing and health maintenance. Ask your me about whether it could help you - and see the British Acupuncture Council website (acupuncture.org.uk) for more information including videos and research factsheets.
Traditional acupuncture treatment is completely individual to each patient. It works on the whole person to promote better functioning, thereby addressing symptoms at the root. This is what makes it effective for a wide range of conditions.
What can Moxibustion do for me?
As a practitioner of Five Elements acupuncture, I use moxa in my treatments, when I can.
Moxa is made from the mugwort herb. The use of Moxa warms and invigorates the flow of Qi in the body and can dispel certain pathogenic influences.
What happens when I go for treatment?
During your treatment, I will be using a range of diagnostic methods including taking a full medical history, reading your pulses, looking at your tongue, this initial appointment can take up to 2 hours, I will then design a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.
Two people may have the same symptoms, but for different reasons. As a Five Elements Acupuncturist, I am looking to the root cause of the symptoms you are suffering, aiding your body to heal.
How does it feel? Is it safe?
Acupuncture is safe for all ages. The risk of adverse events is extremely low. Acupuncture needles are very fine - about the width of two human hairs, and sensations can range from a mild tingling to a dull ache on insertion. Acupuncture treatment is very gentle and relaxing.
